McWay
Falls is the most unique and majestic sights along California's coastline.
McWay Falls is an 80 foot water Fall located an hour south of Carmel California
on Pacific high way. The Falls runs round the year
around the Julia Pfeiffer
Burns state Park in Big Sur, U.S.A. These are fresh waterFall tumbles down a
steep granite cliff into a picturesque cove and directly into the Pacific Ocean.
Visitors can view the scenic Fall from a 0.5 mile “Over Trail” easily accessible
from the entrance gate of Julia Pfeiffer Burns state Park off of highway.
This WaterFall is one of the two in an area close enough to the sea to be called "tidefalls". Peoples from different corner of the country even outside of the country come
to spent there leisure time in this McWay Falls.
The
source of The WaterFall is McWay Creek. McWay waterfalls directly empties into
the Ocean. Originally the waterfall cascaded directly into the ocean but after
1983 fire and 1985 landslides, the topography of the McWay Cove was altered.
McWay Falls plummets off a cliff onto a pristine beach. McWay is the most
photographed and the most famous waterfall in California. McWay Fall’s surrounding
view is really mind blowing.
Most
people who visit the water Fall use the main lot and cross under Coastal high
way a foot through the tunnel. Unfortunately McWay Cove is protected, so the Falls
can only view from the overlook and not from the beach. Just a shot distance
from the waterfall are the ruins of on old stone “waterfall house”, owned by
Lathropand Helen Hooper Brown, back in the 1940s. Not much is left of the
house, but it is an interesting site to take pleasure. The park was named after
Brown’s friend. Julia Pfeiffer Burns, who was a respected resident and rancher
in the Big Sur region in the early 20th century. This is where the
trail ends, at the site of the old Waterfall House. It is amazing to the tourist
that someone actually lived here, surrounded by much beauty. There are several other
amazing waterfalls in Big Sur near McWay Falls. They are Lime kiln Falls,
Salmon Creek Falls and Pfeiffer Falls. Most of them are short hikes. Lot of
people visit McWay Falls every year to see one of nature’s most amazing
wonders.
