area of Sundarban is 6,526 square miles. It is mainly water-logged jungle. Sunderban
is criss-crossed by hundreds of creeks and tributaries. It is one of the most
attractive and alluring places remaining on earth, a truly undiscovered
paradise for anyone. Sundarban is one of the popular visiting places for the
visitors.
Sundarban
is the home to many different species of birds, mammals, insects, reptiles and
fishes. Over 120 species of fishes and over 260 species of birds have been
recorded in the forest. The Gangetic River Dolphin (Platanista gangeticus) is
common in the rivers. No less than 50 species of reptiles and eight species of
amphibians are known to occur. Its beauty lies in its unique natural
surrounding. Thousands of meandering streams, creeks, rivers and estuaries have
enhanced its charm. Sundarbans has been considered a sanctuary
for wildlife because it is estimated that there live about 400 Royal Bengal
Tigers and more than 30,000 deer in this area. This forest is the natural habitat of the world famous
Royal Bengal Tiger, spotted deer, crocodiles, jungle fowl, wild boar, lizards,
theses monkey and an innumerable variety of beautiful birds. Golpatta
(round-leaf), fuel wood, honey, shell and fish further add to the serene
natural beauty of the Sundarban.
There are many Tourist Spot
in Sundarban. Katka is one of Heritage sites. Katka a base for safaris, and
well spot to see tigers and for bird-watching. Katka is well known for many
rare and majestic wild animals. At Katka, one can see many precious wild
animals right from tigers to deer and also varieties of birds and many kinds of
monkeys. Here one can hear the natures’ music mixed with the wild fowls in the
mornings and evenings. Karmajal is also one of the
wonderful visiting places in sundarban. Karamjol is a ranger station deep in
the forest that also serves as a deer-breeding center. Bangladesh has some
exquisite wildlife species that are unique to the country and Karamjol is one
of the gateways to the majestic wildlife sanctuary. Hiron Point is another
tourist spot. It is called the world heritage state. Hiron Point is also known
as Nilkamal, it is well-known for tiger, deer, monkey, crocodiles and many
precious birds. Dublar Char, a beautiful island known for its picturesque
scenes, is famous for fishing and is a place for fishermen with abundant of
fish fauna. The Island has all the natural beauty of any other places of the
world renowned Islands. Tin Kona Island, literally means three cornered Island,
is another popular spot for wildlife spotting in Sundarban.
