This Natural Park is located in 1549 El Prado, Balboa Park, San Diego, California, 92101.Total area of Balboa Park is 1200 acre. Balboa Park began as 1400 acres of land set aside in 1868 by San Diego civic leaders. After the turn of the century, a master plan for Park improvements and beautification was formally introduced. Water systems were installed, planting continued, roads were built, and the Park began to take on much of the familiar look of today. Balboa Park San Diego is Home to 15 major museums, renowned performing arts venues, beautiful gardens and the San Diego Zoo. The best way to start your time in Balboa Park is with a stop at the Balboa Park Visitors Center. Located across from The Prado Restaurant in the House of Hospitality, the Visitors Center has the most current and comprehensive information about the Park’s activities and attractions. In Balboa there are many entertainment areas where you can practice skating, soccer fields, bike lanes, kid’s playground, a castle, a labyrinth, among others. The world-famous San Diego Zoo is located in the northern section of Balboa Park. Balboa Park is home to 15 major museums also. Discover stunning art collections, watch vivid IMAX films, learn from docent-led tours, and enjoy interactive, kid-friendly exhibitions. During the two-day festival, 300,000 people come to the Park as museums open their doors, entertainers perform on multiple stages, and holiday decorations transform the outdoor areas. Lush gardens offer a magnificent backdrop for cultural attractions. Gardens include the award-winning rose garden, Alcazar Garden, and the historic Botanical Building. Balboa Park offers trails of various difficulty, scenery, and length. Balboa was opened to public in 1949. The Balboa Park grounds are open 24 hours a day, the Visitors Center is open 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. daily. Balboa Park San Diego is visited by many people especially during the weekends because of the many cultural and sport activities organized.
